Traverse City North Stars

Got to hang out with a great photographer (John L. Russell) and shoot the Traverse City Junior A North Stars on Satuday. The opening minute of play there were a few teeth lost and stop in play due to the amount of blood on the ice. Gotta love the game!!!

Sign of the Times

As I pulled into the carport after a meeting today and I was greeted with a nice little sign. This one was about 15 feet up in a tree. There was some remaining berries from the summer. Just another reminder that its Thanksgiving.
Happy Holidays from me to you!

History Faire

Halloween Custumes

Woodland School seventh grader Piper Deans jokes with sixth grader Luke Kreykes during a break between presentations. Deans and Kreykes were playing Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson. Kreykes said, "having to wear a wig is the hardest part about being Andrew Jackson." Kreykes removed the wig between presentations. Deans added, " having to go to goodwill and find the clothes was the toughest part of the assignment.

Fellow students were given clues about different presidents and they had to ask the couples questions to find out which president they had. Woodland students celebrated halloween with a History Faire. This year's theme is "presidents" in which the students learned about various aspects such as election terms, campaigning, Senate and the House of Representatives.

For the Cause

A stroll down the TART Trail...
Oneupweb is at it again. Despite the worlds shrinking bank accounts and spending money an idea from the past this company is reaching out.
Combining their efforts with Tom's Food Market on the west side of Traverse City, MI Oneupweb is donating food to Sal's Kitchen, a Salvation Army Food Pantry, with a total dollar amount rounding to $9000.00. Canned Tuna, soup, pears, instant rice, oats and even Mac-n-Cheese with be picked up at the open space by Sal's Kitchen.
The hard work of the event was done by all 36 Oneupweb employees. Each pushed a cart full of food from Tom's to the Open Space. My hat is off to the hard working employees of Oneupweb!

The Big Traverse City Game

Rain, cold temperatures, screaming fans....
Friday night lights were blazing bright at Thirlby field. No surprise that the cold temperatures and rain didn't scare anyone away. The stands were full to the brim and the end zones packed of fans getting soaked watching a run away train.
Traverse City Central's players charged the field and kept the momentum moving throughout the game. The TC West Titans made a stand in the second half but wasn't enough to conquer the Trojans.
The new rivalry is becoming the fall event of the year. If you missed it this year check out the Traverse City Record-Eagle for the full story.
Its time to carve a pumpkin!

The Colors have Arrived

More Color
I was able to get away from the computer this week and try and get some shots of the color that is all around Northern Michigan. Its hard to decide which light gives the better results. The color radiates when sun is directly on the foliage. No doubt about it that the colors will "pop" like no other.
Ever gone out and looked at the fall colors with a nice overcast day? Try it! The moody colors will make you forget about the hot days of July, BBQ, jet skiing and make you realize its Fall!

Fall Portraits

Great time for outdoor portraits
Fall is the perfect time for portraits. The temperature is accommodating for a wide range of styles of dress. The seasonal colors always lend to amazing backgrounds. One feature that isn't thought of is the up coming holidays.
As the year closes out your daily planner fills. Holiday parties, shopping, long lines, kids school events, traveling all make getting a simple portrait that mom and dad would love that much harder.
That simple portrait can become a personalized greeting card used for one or all the holidays. Check out your local photographers to find out how cheap it is to create such a valuable gift.

Great Chance

Sometimes is about shooting...

Today I was able to take a break from editing a video that I am working on to shoot with some local talent. While working with seasoned models on paying jobs is always a treat. Its refreshing to work with new talent that are open for something different. Natalie (above) and Ashley couldn't stop laughing during the shoot. But when they did there was some great images to capture. Now, Natalie and Ashley don't want to be models but is a chance to do something different. Change the pace in life a bit and trying something on the other side of the coin. For me it was an ablility to grab my camera and freshin up the portfolio.

I love weddings!!!

Weddings...
They come and go, but the Keizer wedding is not on that list. Keizers know how to throw an amazing social event. This was about two families joining together and having a throw down.
I was just fortunate to be there to capture it.
Thanks Tyler and Brandon!!!

Egg Hunting

The Bunny is here. When I think of Easter I imagine Mallrats. Ear to ear does my smile grow thinking of Brody misdirecting his misfit friends. Leading to a revenge of simple porportions. Face it...you have been duped your whole life. Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy they all became good stories. So when you see two brutes wailing on this sacred white childhood figure, its a statement. No longer with I stand quietly in the night. Draw a line in the sand saying, pass this you will no further go! The Man has just seen his last joke played on me. I figured it out. So I will continue wailing on that poor innocent bunny till I win.

Or till I have children and I find myself standing in line for a picture with Santa.

Damn it!

Walk

March Madness too much for you?
Its really about getting outside every once in a while. Taking a stroll through town, down a trail or just maybe the driveway can do the trick. Its not vest and long sleeve shirt
weather yet but its time to let that skin feel the sun.
A quick 30 minute walk through a sea of slush can be the greatest workout and give you a bit of head start on the winter
waist line that you are proudly toting around.
Once your done you will have the smile, that glow and that need to get back out and do it again. Take it from Christine, Every day is one more that is an adventure. Even if its just to the end of the driveway.
Enjoy your March Madness...

Walter Family Christmas

Alive, fashionable family looking for a good time!

The Walter family is one that knows how to have christmas. Friends and family fill the house through the season. On christmas eve when the crowds of people that have their fill and moved on to bed, the Walter group take it to the next level. A fews hours are taken to share the love they have for one another.

Stinky cheese fills the air like aroma therapy candles, green martinis are served as commonly as green beer on St.Patricks Day The house is perfectly decorated with fine touches found through out the house. Shrimp cocktails, cookies and a constant, "I'll take more wine please!" is joyfully sung.

This is the Walter Family Christmas!

"Don't hate, celebrate!"

I am man?

Simple question but does it have to be a serious one?! More than likely no. So I ventured out into the woods one mild winter day. With the Northern Michigan wild at my feet, I decided to drive back on a seasonal road. The xc skiers were upset but if they knew this shot was coming out with me I think they would consider different.

Simply put, an idea that worked out.

It took all of twenty minutes to get this shot and others. Thanks to Strobist.com and the amazing advice and constant flow of info this can be easliy done.

Scott, the model, was a trooper to head out with Shea and I. I did call him a wuss at one point but only to get him angry.....like a lumberjack.
